Conversations with a two year old

I’m baaaaaaaaack…..  Sorry for the long hiatus I took.  I’ve been dealing with some things lately and really haven’t felt like myself for a while, so I thought that I would hold off on posting until I got my head back on straight.  So without further adieu, here’s some conversations with my two year old!

Me:  Yay!  Fruit Loops!

Noah:  You can’t eat my Fruit Loops daddy…  You eat tree stars…

Me:  No more Land Before Time for you dude…

Noah:  But I wub it!!!

Lately the little dude has began yelling at/for me when we put him to bed at night.  It usually goes a little something like this…

Noah:  Daddy!  Daddy!  Daddy!  Daddy!

Me:  (Maybe if I ignore him he’ll stop and go to sleep…)

Noah:  Daddy!  Daddy!  Daddy!  It’s me, Noah!

Me:  Well I didn’t think it was Steve!!!!

Noah:  Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaddy!!!

Me:  What?!?!?

Noah:  I wub you…

Noah:  *talking to the dog*  Awwww…  I so proud of you…  Eating my food…

Me:  Dude!  Don’t feed the dog your sandwich!!!

Noah:  But he likes it…

Me:  Who farted?

Noah:  Bubba did it…

Landon:  It wasn’t me!  Mine smell like butter beans!

Me:  Wait, what???

Well that’s about all I’ve got for now.  I’m sure that once I get back in the flow of writing again, more will come more often.  So until next time, you guys take care!

Welcome to Thunderdome…

Yesterday I got to keep my daughter home as sort of a preview to what it’s going to be like when she and her brother both stay home with me.  It was hell.

She’s at that age (9 months) where she HAS to be into everything.  As soon as I would move her somewhere and turn around, she’s into something else!  That wouldn’t of been so much trouble if it were only her, but her brother who is used to being the only one home with me during the day, doesn’t like sharing daddy’s attention.  So I’ve got one kid crawling all over the place and grabbing any and everything she can get and shoving them in her mouth, and another running around, jumping off couches, pushing her down, torturing the cat.  You know, being a toddler.

Eventually they figured out that by working together, they could really test the limits of my sanity.  I finally got them down for their naps and it’s as if they both conspired to only sleep for about 30-40 minutes each because as soon as I sat down it seemed, they were up….and cranky.

The rest of the day is kind of a blur, as I didn’t get much sleep the night before (damn you Netflix!!!) and was up around 5:30…  I’d never been so happy to see my wife as I was when she walked through the door!  Thank god she bathed the kids for me, because I was whooped.  If yesterday taught me anything, it’s that this is going to take some getting used to and a lot of help!!!

Christmas in September!

Image

My wife and I like to get our Christmas shopping done super early.  That way we can utilize layaway fully and have a larger budget for the kids.  Luckily for us, my oldest son doesn’t live with us and our other two kids are young enough to go along for at least the time being.  That makes it super easy!  We can use them to tell us what they want and they are young enough to forget about everything five minutes after we leave!

For the most part, it was a success.  Each kid got nine presents and we managed to stay under our budget of $600.  Everything was going smoothly until we got to the layaway counter.  Apparently eight of Autumn’s presents were clearance items, thus making them unavailable for layaway.    Talk about disappointing…

Luckily payday is only a few days away and we will be able to just go ahead and buy her gifts straight out, so it’s not all bad.  Plus, she got to get one of her presents today as a bit of a consolation prize.  It’s a blue unicorn pillow pal.  She LOVES that thing!  As soon as she first saw it, out went her arms and the giggles were in full effect!  I could hear the voice of Elmyra from Tiny Toon Adventures in my head saying, “I’m gonna love him and squeeze him and kiss him and hug him and love him some more!”

As for the boys, it was Ninja Turtles and video games for Landon and Jake and Octonauts for Noah.  One present in particular that I am looking forward to “testing” for them is this new game Disney Infinity.  It looks similar to the Skylanders game with the little characters that you put on a “portal” that zaps them into the video game.  I can only imagine the possibilities of characters that Disney will eventually release for that!  Imagine Luke Skywalker fighting alongside Iron Man and Lightning McQueen, or Capt. Jack Sparrow plundering treasure with Sully and Mr Incredible!!!

I can’t wait for Christmas to get here!  Having little children allows you to share in the magic of Christmas again!  Seeing the joy on their faces when they come into the living room Christmas morning is going to be freaking AWESOME!!!  Only 93 days to go!!!!
